HummingBird

HummingBird is an engineering visualizer primarily aimed at making visualization of streaming data simple and effective.  In addition to visualization, data correction and KPI generation are important capabilities of HummingBird.

The product architecture is flexible, configurable, and extensible, making it possible to consume data from a wide variety of data sources such as WITSML, WITS, Modbus, OPC/UA, and many other protocols.

An array of rich built-in graphics widgets is available within HummingBird. Ease of configuring and customizing the widgets and their layout helps in assembling bespoke dashboards that can be shared with other users.

HummingBird client runs in a browser, thus providing accessibility on multiple platforms and devices like desktops, tablets, and smart phones.

Features

Customizable Dashboards

The dashboard designer is a versatile gauges, dials and controls placement tool that allows a user to create custom dashboards.  The user can choose from a list of mnemonics to display and/or control.  The dashboard components are configurable in terms of channel data frequency, units of measurement, precision of data to be displayed, font, and other attributes.  The components can be aligned, spaced and resized to fit the user’s needs. The named dashboard designs can also be exported and shared amongst users.

Active Controls

HummingBird is not only a data visualizer but can also serve as a control interface that allows users with the right privileges to send set points and other advisory messages back to the rig’s operating system via YellowHammer.

Live Scroll Graph

The Live scroll graph view allows users to visualize multiple data channels streaming at different frequencies on a single page.  In the view the user can choose data channels from a list, assign them an algorithmically chosen color and stream them across the viewport at various speeds.

Units of Measurement

HummingBird allows the user to select the displayed units which may differ from the source UoM.

Adaptors and Operators

A user with administrator privileges can configure various adaptors and operators to integrate external data sources as well as apply filters such as decimation and simple moving average to the data in preparation for the displays.

Historical Graph

As the name suggests the Historical graph displays data for the chosen channels for the entire well.  The view also includes a bit vs hole depth difference graph along the time axis as the historical data.  The user can zoom in and inspect the curves for any part of the well.  The Historical graph also features the ability to overlay Operational Events (e.g., drilling, skidding, connection, tripping, casing running, etc.) on any of the displayed channels.

User Management

By integrating with LDAP servers such as Microsoft Active Directory, administrators can exercise control on data exposure at a well (or asset) level or at a predefined dashboard level.

KPIs

KPIs are put together using a combination of HummingBird's Complex Operational Events (COEs).  At this time the KPIs are custom developed.  Allowing power end-users to create their own KPI screen is being planned.  More information about the currently available KPIs can be found here.

Data wrangling

HummingBird allows depth correction and event correction. Markers can be added for extra information during correction.  Data gaps are identified and user is given a choice about its usage.  Approval mechanism is in place for the corrections and audit trail is maintained.
